Food production was the first ever business line of Yıldız Holding and it is still one of the key sectors in which we continue our operations.  

Having been founded in 1944 by Sabri Ülker ve Asım Ülker, Ülker, the apple of our group’s eye, continues its business operations in and outside Turkey as one of our key brands. Having been established in 2016, pladis brings together Ülker, GODIVA (the packaged products business), United Biscuits and DeMet’s companies under one roof. On a global scale, pladis currently ranks second in biscuits business and seventh in chocolate business.   

United Biscuits, a subsidiary of pladis, has been involved in biscuits production for about two centuries and is known as one of the leading snack food companies with its world-famous brands such as McVitie’s, Jacob’s and Carr’s. Chicago-based candy producer DeMet’s is the producer of flavors which are widely acclaimed all around the world. GODIVA, which has a history of 100 years, is among the most reputable premium chocolate brands in the world today. GODIVA’s packaged products are offered to consumers under the roof of pladis, and GODIVA cafés and boutiques in numerous countries bring the luxury chocolate experience together with chocolate lovers.  

Yıldız Holding also offers different food products to consumers other than snacks. Having started its operations in Istanbul in 1992, Besler produces edible oil and industrial margarine. Kerevitaş Gıda Sanayi, Turkey’s first company in retail frozen food sector, is leading the market with its SuperFresh brand. Having one of the largest integrated meat facilities in Europe, Aytaç Gıda is operating under the roof of Yıldız Holding since 2014 meeting to consumers’ needs for charcuterie products with a product range of approximately 150 products. 

Among the food companies operating under Yıldız Holding is Adapazarı Şeker, one of the oldest sugar factories in Turkey. Operating under the roof of our Holding since 2013, Adapazarı Şeker has an annual production capacity of 99 thousand tons and produces crystal granulated sugar, wet pulp and molasses. 

DFU, our leading company in the Turkish frozen bakery industry, manufactures its products under the highest hygienic standards, utilizing advanced technology at every stage, from silos to product storage and packaging. DFU offers its high-quality products to consumers with unmatched freshness and no risk of physical or microbial deterioration through uninterrupted cold chain storage and transportation.

Following its acquisition of the British food company “United Biscuits” in November 2014, Yıldız Holding has become a truly global player. Afterwards, Yıldız Holding brought together four different companies under the umbrella of a global company, pladis in 2016. These four companies were Ülker, manufacturer of biscuits, chocolate and confectionery products, GODIVA (packaged products division), United Biscuits and DeMet’s.  Bringing together over 300 years of experience of these established brands, pladis currently ranks second in the biscuits market and seventh in the chocolate market. 


 

Ülker, one of Turkey’s established brands, was founded in 1944 by the brothers Sabri Ülker and Asım Ülker in Nohutçu Building of Eminönü. Ülker was solely involved in biscuits production in its early years, however entered new markets afterwards starting from 1970. Ülker started manufacturing chocolate products, wafers and chocolates in 1970s, cakes, milk and vegetable oil in 1990s, other food products and beverages in 2000s. Being a main brand itself, Ülker contributed to the development and market penetration of many sub-brands. 


 

Having started its business approximately 100 years ago with making pralines under the roof of a modest confectionery workshop, GODIVA has grown into a global premium brand and has been operating under the umbrella of Yıldız Holding since 2007. While GODIVA’s packaged products are offered to consumers under the roof of pladis, GODIVA owned cafés and boutiques have presence in dozens of countries allowing customers to treat themselves with exquisite and luxurious flavors of GODIVA. 

Chicago-based candy manufacturer George Demet’s is very well known for its Turtles® caramel nut clusters created in 1916. Today, DeMet's Candy Company creates flavors that are acclaimed worldwide and was acquired by Yıldız Holding in 2014. In 2016, it was taken over by pladis, a global company owned by Yıldız Holding. 



 

The story of the brand starts in 1896, the foundation year of the Biscuiterie Nantaise. In France, in particular to its smile which appeared on its biscuit since 1992, the BN brand has become and remains today a strong family brand and a symbol of joyful moments. 


 

JD Carr has been serving it customers for about 200 years ever since the opening of its bakery in 1831. Being a brand under the roof of United Biscuits, Carr’s has become a brand under Yıldız Holding following the acquisition of United Biscuits by Yıldız Holding in 2014. The company and its brand continue to operate under the umbrella of pladis. 


 

The production of Flipz, our brand for sweet and salty snacks, started in 1997 and it was acquired by DeMet's Candy Company in 2003. Following the acquisition of DeMet's Candy Company by Yıldız Holding in 2014, the brand currently operates under the umbrella of pladis. 


 

Launched in 1996, Go Ahead was UK’s first healthier biscuit. Go Ahead is known for its range of products such as Fruit Slices, Yogurt Breaks and Fruit & Oat Bakes. 


 

Jacob’s, UK’s favorite crackers brand, has been manufacturing great-tasting crackers with real ingredients since 1851. Having 160 years of baking experience, Jacob’s has become one of Yıldız Holding’s brands following the acquisition of United Biscuit by Yıldız Holding. The brand currently operates under the umbrella of pladis. 

Being one of the most reputable brands under United Biscuits, McVitie’s has operations since 1839. Following the acquisition of United Biscuits by Yıldız Holding in 2014, the established brand started to operate under the umbrella of Yıldız Holding. The brand currently operates under the roof of pladis. 


 

Having been established in 1970, Kerevitaş is the first frozen food retail company in Turkey. The company’s well-known brand SuperFresh is the leading brand in its market segment.  


 

Aytaç Gıda has completed Europe’s largest integrated meat facility in 1993 and was acquired by Yıldız Holding in 2014. The company meets consumers’ needs for charcuterie products with a product range of approximately 150 products.

DFU manufactures frozen bakery products in Turkey. DFU is involved in manufacturing, packaging, storage and shipping of a wide of variety of products including cookies, muffins, frozen products and semi-baked products manufactured in line with hygienic requirements using technological equipment at every stage of the production cycle.
